SMARTPHONE TRENDS IN 2020


So guys finally the year 2020 is here and so is the new decade. The smartphone market witnessed a number of trends in the last decade such as thinning of bezels, introductions of dual, triple and even quad camera modules by the end of the decade, different locations for the front camera such as the Mix line up by Xiaomi sported it at the bottom right corner on the chin of the smartphone and then came the Vivo NEX, the first smartphone sporting a full display in true sense which also started the trend of pop up selfie cameras. 
We saw a significant increase in the number of megapixels that smartphone cameras used to have on the spec sheet with the arrival of 32 megapixels, 48 megapixels, 64 megapixels and even 108 megapixels camera modules in smartphones. Also a lot changed on the display front where the concept design named as the Essential phone by Andy Rubin built up all the hype by its drop notch design and then Apple set the notch display trend in motion when it revealed its iPhone X.
The smartphones in 2020 are mostly going to be about the foldable displays and more and more flagship devices in the budget range. The master players such as the Korean tech giant Samsung and Huawei have already launched their first generation of the foldable phones like Galaxy fold and Huawei Mate X. Soon the currently emerging brands as far as the premium price segment is considered like Oneplus, Oppo and Vivo will enter the foldable smartphone game and reveal their devices. Followed up by budget midrange oriented companies such as Xiaomi and Realme by Oppo bringing out their respective devices. Also the market shares are going to experience a turn by the daring moves of the new player Realme in the budget and midrange flagship segment. Realme's shares rose to 14.3 percent, while Xiaomi’s market share is around 27.1 percent, followed by Samsung with 18.9 percent and Vivo with 15.2 percent market share in Q3 2019.
Realme sold over 15 million smartphones in its very first year and stole the limelight at the end of the decade by launching its first flagship, the Realme X2 Pro at a price of 27999 INRs which claims to be the fastest charging flagship of India having its USP as 50 watt Super VOOC Fast Charging which is Oppo's very own version of fast charging technology.
Also we are going to see more and more gaming smartphones from the brands like Asus with it ROG phone line up and a few new entrants. So the smartphone market in 2020 will mostly revolve around bigger and bigger screens and more and more performance centric phone making it to the new budget flagship segment.
