Switzerland

Greece – Meteora
Some hermit monks founded 20 monasteries in the 14th century to avoid the Turkish invasion. These monks had the high cliffs as the perfect escape.
In the beginning, these monasteries could only be reached with ladders and ropes. During the 1920s, it was made more available by the measure. There are actually only six monestaries.

The Plitvice Lakes – Croatia
Plitvice National Park in Croatia is regarded as one of Europe's most beautiful natural sites.In 1949 this network of 16 interconnected lakes with a large complex of forests around it was laid aside as a national park due to its natural beauty and significance. The UNESCO World Heritage List was created in 1979.
The 16 lakes are divided into a top and a lower group of mountain rivers, which descent over a distance of some 8 km from 636 m to 503 m, aligned in the south north direction. The seven lakes are separated by rivers.
Natural travertine walls, covered in moose, algae or bacteria, divide the lakes. On each other, the embedded plants and bacteria grow and form travertine obstacles that increase by 1 cm per year. Its lakes, from azure to green to grey or blue, are renowned for its distinctive colors. Depending on the amount of minerals or species in the water and the view of sunlight, the colors change constantly.
Dubrovnik – Croatia
The city was founded by the Romans in the 7th century. It remained, however, largely self-governing as an independent republic, under the protection of the Byzantine Empire from 867 to1205, of Venice to 1358, of Hungary to 152 6 and the Ottoman Empire to 1806.
Dubrovnik was the leading cultural center in the south Slavs until the 19th century, with one of the largest trading fleets on the Mediterranean Sea. The town of Dubrovnik was abolished in 1808 byNapoleon and ceded the city to Austria by the Congress of Wien in 1815.
In 1808, Napoleon abolished Dubrovnik, and in 1815 the Vienna Congress ceded Austria to the region.
The city was part of the newly formed Kingdom of the Serbs, the Croats and the Slovenians (later Yugoslavia), according to the Treaty of Rapallo (1920) following the First World War. Italian and German forces took over Dubrovnik during the Second World War.
When Croatia declared its independence from Yugoslavia in 1991, Serb forces settled and bombed the town and destroyed many historical sites. Now its former glory was fully restored.
Berlin – Germany

During the second world war, Berlin was destroyed by bombing raids and in the 1950s and 60s, in west and east, many of the old buildings that escaped the bombings were wiped out.
The urban development plan for the building of new residential or business areas and major roads prompted a large amount of this damage. The city has left a diverse selection of architecture and sights to Berlin's remarkable recent history.
Most Plattenbauten can be found in the eastern part, which reflects the desire of the Soviet bloc to create full residential areas that include fixed shops, nursery schools.
The use of small reds and greens in pedestrian crossing lights (Ampelmannchen) is another distinction between the East and West; during the standardization of road signs following reunification, the Eastern models were given the option of refusing them. In the west part of the town the eastern version of the Ampelmännchen is now also used.
Amsterdam – The Netherlands
